Why Japanese Hairstylists are the Best?

A lot of people have been saying that Japanese stylists are the best. But really, why? Is it because they have nice sense when it comes to fashion and style? Is it because their fashion trends are becoming more popular nowadays?

One thing is for sure, Japanese stylists need to get their licenses first before they can actually work on customers’ hair.

1. In Japan, they have the “Hair National License” and only 50% of the takers pass the exam to be able to obtain this type of license. This also includes eyelash extensions.

2. Before they are qualified to take the examination, they need to study in a hair school for at least two years. After graduation from school, they need to train what they learned for at least one year. That’s how their system in Japan works. The application for hair national license is conducted once a year meaning if the applicant failed to pass, he/she needs to train again and wait for a year before he/she can take the exam again.

3. After obtaining the hair national license, they can already start working at hair salons. But having this kind of license doesn’t mean you can already become a senior stylist. Of course, you’ll have to first become a hair assistant. And it usually takes 3-5 years before the assistants become senior hairstylists. So a total of 8 years before a Japanese hair stylist becomes a senior stylist.
