Eyelash Coating and Serums for Lash Extensions: Are they worth it?
As much as we love getting eyelash extensions all the time, it is still advisable to take a break from it every once in a while. Our eyelashes need a breather too! We need to remember that even though lash extensions are a convenient temporary fix, there are a lot of products out there that you can also use to make your eyelashes naturally beautiful.
I’m sure your favorite eyelash technicians have offered you an eyelash coating before. They would have already told you that lash coating is good for maintaining the eyelash extensions and also beneficial to your natural lashes as well. Have you ever wondered how?
After reading this blog post, you will learn everything you need to know about eyelash coating and eyelash serums.
Before anything else, let us clear up a few things about eyelash coating and eyelash serums. Sometimes these two are confused as being one and the same but that is not true. Eyelash coating has a different purpose from eyelash serums.
Why should you use Eyelash Coating?
The ones offered to you by your eyelash technicians after your lash appointment is usually the eyelash coating . It is primarily used as a barrier to protect your eyelash extensions against elements that can break down the lash glue. You should use eyelash coating if you want to eyelash coatings are sometimes referred to as eyelash sealers.

The extra layer of protection that eyelash coating provides is a must-have when you are exposed to things like humidity, sweat, and oily skin. This is a great product to use to save your lash extensions when going to the beach!
Keep in mind, though, that eyelash coating is mostly for maintenance. Eyelash serums work much deeper and affect the actual lashes.
So, what about Eyelash Serums?
Eyelash serums, on the other hand, are formulated to affect the growth cycle of your natural hair. They contain ingredients that are proven to enhance lash growth so they are recommended to those who want to get thicker and longer lashes. It is applied on natural eyelashes, but is also safe to use with eyelash extensions.
Lashaddict is available at any KIYOSA branches.
Eyelash serums are effective by giving your lashes a boost while they are in the growth phase of the hair cycle. For example, Lashaddict Eyelash Conditioning Serum uses a patented proprietary nano-peptide complex combined with a blend of nutrients and moisturizers that stimulates your lashes to become longer and thicker. It also strengthens the hair follicles to minimize breakage!
Here are some of the key ingredients that makes an eyelash serum effective (specifically found in the Lashaddict formula):
1. Proprietary Nano-Peptide Complex -to strengthen and enhance the appearance of lash length & thickness for healthy, beautiful lashes!
2. Encapsulated Vitamin Complex (Vitamin C & E) -to provide essential nutrition for healthy lash development.
3. Hyaluronic Acid -to provides moisture and hydration to lashes, keeping them flexible
4. Niacin & Biotin –Essential for healthy lashes! Increases microcirculation to bring nutrients to lash follicles.
5. Pisum Sativum Extract –provides essential nutrients and antioxidants to refresh and revitalize hair.
How long should I use Eyelash Serums to see results?
If you apply it at least two to three times a week, you should be able to see dramatic results in just three to four weeks of continued use! Depending on the product, one tube should last you six months where you will see the maximum results ..
The only downside to this is that when you stop using the serum, your eyelashes will gradually return to their original appearance. This is because when your eyelashes have run its growth cycle course, they will shed and grow back to their normal length. It is recommended that you keep on using the eyelash serum to always get that luscious lashes. Putting eyelash serums will be another step to your skin care routine but it will be worth it!
Is eyelash serum safe during pregnancy?
Eyelash serums from reliable brands are tested to be safe to the skin and in the eyes. There is no scientific reason to believe that Lashaddict poses a safety risk to pregnant or breastfeeding women, however, as with any new cosmetic product we recommend consulting with your physician first as a precaution if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
How to apply eyelash serum correctly
To maintain the full effect of the serum, we recommend that you apply a small amount of Lashaddict serum 2-3 times per week every night after you remove your eye makeup. Allow 6-12 weeks of use to see maximum results. Once opened, you should use your serum within 6 months or as indicated by the manufacturer.
Here are the steps to apply your eyelash serum:
Step 1. Eyelash serum is best absorbed to clean and dry skin. Before application, you should make sure your makeup is removed entirely and you have washed your face!
Step 2. Sweep the applicator brush along the lash line in a single stroke. Some eyelash serums are concentrated so a small product goes a long way! Apply the serum to the skin closest to the lashes, above the upper lash line.
Step 3. Wait around 2 minutes for the serum to be absorbed into the skin before applying other skincare products.
Step 4. It is best used once a night before going to bed.
You might be wondering if you can apply the eyelash serum on your lower lashes. Yes! It is safe to use on both the upper and lower eyelashes.
